ETA wood chip boiler HACK VR 250 – 500 kW
In times of rising raw material costs, heating large properties is a real challenge – but not if you rely on crisis-proof and indigenous fuels such as wood chips. Wood chips are made from wood that is difficult to recycle in other ways, such as thinning material, wood scraps from storm damage and sawdust from domestic wood processing plants. It is chipped by powerful shredders to predetermined standards. The size of the wood chips is standardised. Sizes P16S – P31S are suitable for our systems.
A system that also handles coarse chips
All ETA wood chip conveyor systems are carefully thought out, tested and designed for the toughest application: the transport of coarse, uneven wood chips. In order to transport wood chips up to 12 cm, all components must work perfectly together. This starts in the bunker. The wood chips are fed to the auger through open troughs with a spacious design. In the process, a load-bearing plate prevents the material from exerting excessive pressure on the discharge auger, allowing for a filling height of up to five metres. In the sealed trough channel, wide discharge connections prevent bottlenecks. Wood chip loosening is also supported by the progressive auger, which also loosens the material. Installation is also simple thanks to the modular design. The auger modules, which range in size from 25 to 200 cm, are manufactured and aligned in automated machines, and the specially shaped trough channels are simply screwed together.
The right temperature in the combustion chamber thanks to the continuously controlled flue gas recirculation: a constant, ideal temperature in the combustion chamber is required during combustion to achieve optimum results in terms of emissions and efficiency, and the flue gas recirculation must therefore also be continuously controlled. As in the case of the draught fan, a highly efficient fan ensures that the combustion temperature in the venting zones is always kept above 800 °C but below 1 000 °C. In this temperature window, all the fuel components are completely degraded. On the other hand, the thermal load on the components remains as low as possible, which significantly increases the boiler lifetime. Excessively high combustion temperatures can also lead to unwanted slagging.
Whether burning wood chips or pellets, this moving grate boiler has everything inside for safe, clean and flexible heating. The flue gas recirculation is constantly monitored. This reinforces the gas flow. The grate cools better and boiler temperatures are kept within a single area, which both ensures complete combustion of the fuel and counteracts slagging. Vacuum control ensures safety, while lambda control guarantees maximum efficiency with minimum emissions. And maximum comfort is ensured by an absolutely reliable fuel supply system and a multi-cyclone dust separator.
